I am working on a couple small projects to be sold at the Mennonite Heritage Center Pennsylvania German Folk Art Sale this coming December. Quilts are something I can't throw together at the last minute, so I have to start now. First project is a small quilt (or maybe two) inspired by an antique crib quilt, shown in the background of the photo. The original is not in great shape, is only tied in a few places, and has super ugly textured green 1940-1950's curtain fabric on the back. Nevertheless, I think the colors are great and the design has a lot of potential. The hour glass blocks in the original are roughly 3"; I am making mine 1 1/2" finished.
I am also making some six-pointed stuffed star ornaments for the sale. They make nice, inexpensive gifts for the holiday season.
What a beautiful crib quilt - and your hourglass blocks are so cute! The Christmas stars will be a winner - great idea and super fabrics.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, it's time to get a jump on Christmas. We're looking forward to seeing the fun things you come up with for the sale.
ReplyDeleteOne of these days, I'll make it to this sale!
ReplyDeleteSweet! I love them both.
ReplyDeleteNever too early to prepare. Love the quilt top and I'm sure the reproduced one will be even better. The stars are awesome.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty little hourglass blocks.
ReplyDeleteThose ornaments are so cute! What size are they?
I love looking at hourglass blocks, because even with different colors everywhere, when I squint my eyes, I see pinwheels! Can't imagine making one as small as yours! Last week I finished a Christmas wall hanging --- a gift to a family member. I think Santa is already packing for his trip South! ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteGreat small size hourglass blocks. The star ornaments are really wonderful. I can't think Christmas until after Labor Day. Nice you have a start!
