Sewing, not just organizing, has been taking place in the quilt lab. Using antique fabric from my collection, I put together this 16-patch quilt. It is about 24 inches square. Each small square is 3/4 inch finished. I had found bundles of the black and red fabrics on an antiquing trip--there are two different prints--and I wanted to highlight them in a little quilt. I originally had a large-scale floral border, but found as I was getting ready to quilt, the floral fabric was weak and would rip when tugged on. I switched to the red and white geometric and am happy with it.
When I make a quilt like this, I cut many lights and darks for the 16-patches. I lay them out the way I like and usually have left overs.
I made four-patches with the left-over squares and set them with yellow for a happier look. I used the same border fabric for both quilts.
I listed several new items in my Etsy shop including these patchwork pillowcases. Start your collection today!
Both quilts are darling! Good luck with your pillow cases.

ReplyDeleteThose little quilts are so cute! You always come up with the best ideas. I saw one again a few days ago in a magazine from a while back, thought I recognized it, and sure enough, when I checked, sure enough it was yours! ---"Love"
