A little finish and an antique crib quilt

Here is a result from my recent half square triangle addiction.  The original plan was to put together four units like this into one quilt.  After I got one unit done, I decided I had had enough. added a border and voila! The size is about 13 inches square; each hst is 1 inch finished.

 Maybe you prefer this angle.
So many ways to put together light and dark.

I changed the quilt hanging on the wall of the quilt lab to little gem.  It is PA crib quilt dated 1903 in the center square.

The name and date are done in quilting stitches, but the pencil marks are what stand out.  It says J. E ? y, 1903.

The back is flannel, quilted with grey thread.  This size is 35 inches square.

  3. I like your use of HSTs, and agree with your finishing decision. It looks great. And I would love for some fabric company to reproduce the border of the baby quilt. It reminds me of black-eyed peas. Snuggling in a quilt with that fabric may provide New Year's luck for those in my family that don't like eating the peas.
