Special request...Pillar Print


After I posted the photo of my quilt cupboard--ok, one of my quilt cupboards--I received a request from Sandra (Textile Time Travels blog) for a photo of the pillar print she spied on the top shelf.  The pillar print is the back and front edges of a pair of pillowcases dating to around 1830.


 note the squirrel



Probably my earliest piece.  Enjoy the photos.

    I think the pillar print from andover, winterthur museum reproduction has a squirrel on it
    now I have to go look!

    I love prints like that! You can find them mostly in upholstery fabric nowadays but sometimes you get lucky. And sometimes the upholstery fabric is light enough to use in a quilt. What a great find.
