Last Night's Event...Always try to find the positive

I was invited to show my work at a local coffee house during a community event yesterday.  The peg board set up they provided worked out really well for my quilts.  They promised me that lots of art lovers attended their event.  Unfortunately most of the art lovers must have been washing their hair last night.

I brought samples of antique fabrics and a book of my publications to share with all the art lovers.  Here is a shot of the first quilt I ever got published.  It was in Country Quilts (by QUILT magazine), this title is no longer published.  The editor at the time, Jean Ann Wright, gave me my start!
A majority of the crowd at the coffee house was teenagers.   Now I have two teenagers of my own, but... I did not like teenagers when I was a teenager and I am not all that fond of them now.  Plus teenagers don't buy too many miniature quilts.  I sold nothing, but did enjoy the free coffee and pastries.

  1. Lovely display Ann, you never know who was admiring your display from afar. Don't forget teenagers become working adults but you might have to wait awhile!

  6. What a bust, but I suppose you can't win them all, right? I hope the next one (wherever it is) will be well attended by INTERESTED parties!

  7. I really like your display of quilts too. No, teenagers usually don't buy quilts. My GD loves them, but probably couldn't afford to buy one.

  8. What a nice display - I would have attended! Somewhere one of those teenagers will become a quilter - I'm sure of it!

  9. That sounds discouraging, but you may have sparked something in one of them!

  10. I'm chuckling about the teenager comment. Stinks that you went to the trouble, but hey...the good news is...all of us in blogland got to see it! Thanks for sharing!

  11. Oh, what a pity and your quilts are such works of art. How many art shows I remember doing where I didn't sell anything. It is hard to be an artist!

  12. So sorry that there were not art lovers at your show. Your display looks beautiful. I guess every show/event can't be a winner.
    Good luck next time.

  16. Some teenagers do grow up into mature adults, and some of them are able to find jobs. Hopefully all who enjoyed looking at your neat display will get a job and come looking for your quilts at another show somewhere! (We can dream, can't we?) ---"Love"
