A Little Spring Around the House

I took a half day of vacation from work today to get caught up on things at home.  It's nice to have some alone time  to get some chores done and maybe do a little seasonal decorating.

Time for a pretty spring quilt...

I call this a make-do quilt.  What do you do if your nine-patches don't come out right?  We would probably re-do them, but not this 19th century quilter.  Just add a little strip of fabric and it fits just fine.

I love that the quilt is not perfect and symmetrical.  It has so much personality.

Time for the bunnies to come out...

and time for the Easter eggs to come out, too.

  4. Your quilt is lovely. It does have a lot of personality and I'm sure whoever made it would love the ffact that it is lovingly displayed in your home. Your bunnies and eggs in the cradle are wonderful. You must have a beautiful home.

I use to look forward to time alone at home when my kids were growing up and so active. Now that they are all out on their own, I miss some of the fun of having them all home with friends dropping by and all the running around to scout meetings, softball games and sleepovers. But now I have time to sew! ! !

  11. It's fun to find old quilts that have "make do" parts in them. I wonder how many husbands found pieces of their shirts missing?? Or how many of these little pieces maybe came off the hem of an old dress or something?
    Enjoy your half day off;)
    Happy Quilting!!

  12. You make so many perfect miniatures that I understand your reasoning for loving this one! I used to take a day once a year to be "alone" at home to get things done, or just enjoy the peace & quiet. Your bunnies are wonderful too. I have one that comes every night to eat the seed on the ground under the bird feeders. Much better than raccoons & opossums! Glad to hear that you have all your projects done for the upcoming show. Congrats! Mary
