Creative Day

The quilt lab is a mess right now, which means I am in a creative mood. Fabrics are piled everywhere. How can there be so many shades of pink and how can none of them be right?
I am always amazed how much a block "shrinks" after all those 1/4 in seams are done. Chemistry and quilting really do mix in the quilt lab.

  1. When the right shade of pink isn't in the basket, guess that's a good reason for a run to the fabric store! ! ! There are some very pretty shades of pink in your basket, though. I know what you mean by how much a block shrinks as you sew the 1/4 inch seams. It is always hard for me to judge the block size until it is all together. Just two seams within a block can shrink it an inch! ! ! Amazing! I like the picture at the end of your blog today, pretty colors and great pattern.

  2. Just keep diggin'; the right pink surely must be there! Isn't it true that the more seams in the block, the more it shrinks? I too love the last little quilt; I love anything in pink! ---"Love"

  3. Boy I would have loved to dive into your bin of pinks today! I'm working on a new dolly quilt and my stash of leftover pinks is dwindling fast. Your little blocks look sweet - what are you using them for? Your picture is just a tease...

  4. There's a very sweet quilt peeking out there and I can see some teeny tiny triangles. I guess when you make quilts out of vintage fabrics you can't just pop out to the store for what you need. Happy Stitching, Ann :-)

  7. Blocks do shrink, and when you work on such a small scale as you do it's very noticeable. I don't have the patience to do much on that scale. I prefer to just admire yours :)Is that a sneak peak of a current project in the corner? -Joanne

  8. Yes, that is a sneak peak. I will be sibmitting that one to quilt magazines in the future for possible publication--so that's all you get to see for now :)
