A little spring in the middle of winter

Got the winter blues?  Well, pick up a copy of Spring 2011 edition of Fons and Porter's Easy Quilts.  Just looking at the bright colors on the cover lifts my spirits.
My little quilt "Hidden Stars" is found on page 46; being published lifts my spirits even more.  The photos were taken at the home of fellow blogger Carolyn of Lee Prairie Designs.  What a charming setting for my little quilt; I LOVE that green doll bed.
I have also turned to working with some spring colors in anticipation of my next show in March.  I brought out some vintage 1930-1940 fabrics.  It is fun to work with pastels for a change.
I am making some stuffed bunnies and little basket blocks that will probably become ornaments, or maybe a little quilt, I don't know yet.
Of course, I had to include a couple cat photos to show what my new kitties do 23.5 hours per day--sleep on top of antique textiles or try to squeeze into a basket that is about two times too small in preparation for a  little nap.

16 lbs--my husband has nick-named him Tiny.

  3. Congrats again! I liked what I saw in quiltmania. Not sure when you were first published in a magazine but I have an older one that looks like ships that I saved becuase it was your design.

You inspired me and I did a bit my blog post. I purchased original chrome fabric and put it on my blog next to the repo. I could not pass it up. It is the oldest fabric I own so far. I can see why you enjoy working with old chrome.

  8. Congrats on being published! I like the little quilt. And I like those springy florals you're working with now. And that behavior of your furry animals? Confirms they're definitely cats! Mine do the same thing (except we don't have any antique textiles, so they settle for modern day instead but often require a human form to be under them first). They're so sweet, but 16 pounds...whew! I thought I had a big boy who tips the scales at 12 pounds. So long as he's healthy and happy, the numbers don't matter. I look forward to seeing all your springy creations!

This winter really feels long to me since I can't take Emily out in this weather. 9 more weeks until spring!!! Enjoy your pretty pastels and playing with your kitties. (16 pounds!?! That's almost double the size of my 3 mo daughter!) :) Christine
