Thinking about adopting...

two cats.  These two are best friends and we'll meet them Sunday at Kitty Cottage, a cat shelter nearby http://www.kittycottage.org/.

As far as quilting goes, I have been working on a little log cabin quilt.  I had it all together and then decided it looked too much like a placemat, so I took it apart and am re-working it a bit.  Below is the antique doll quilt that I working from and some of my fabric selections.
Two other projects involve making little quilts inspired by large antique quilts.  I have decided to use reproduction fabrics since I just don' t have the antique fabrics, especially the madders, that I need to do justice to the designs.  I pulled out a bin of repros that I had and then bought some more.  I am afraid that I might be getting hooked, there are so many beautiful repros out there.

  1. Those two are adorable - wish I was allowed more than one cat - my husband is allegic and barely tolerates the one we have. Love your little works in progress - the orange/cheddar fabrics are especially nice.

  2. You must have a lot of patience to take apart and re-do a little quilt! I bet those cute kitties would be glad to help you! *giggle* ---"Love

  5. Love that little antique log cabin quilt! The colors are my favorites. I don't have the antique fabrics that you do. My stash is the repro's and you are right, there are so many wonderful ones out there.

  8. Those two kitties are adorable. The black and white one looks a little mischevious, but the all black one looks ready to cuddle! (Of course, anyone with cats knows they're all mischevious and cuddly - but on THEIR time.) I hope you do adopt them. I bet they do too. Your quilting life will never be the same!

The quilts you're working on are great, too. I had a hard time focusing on what you wrote, though, because those two kitties are just so cute.

  10. Silly question, but what is a madder? I am falling in love with bright pink reproductions combined with red and green! Can't wait to see the new quilts.

  11. Ditto, ditto, ditto. I am trying to convince my husband that I need a cat. Seriously, I need one. I've always been a Golden Retriever dog person but they need much more attention than I have time to give. I need an independent feline - sweet but with a bit of an attitude. Thanks for sharing your inspriation quilts. There are a lot of great repros out there and the supply is growing. That is a mixed blessing...

    Love your log cabin.
Those repros are so tempting. Makes me want to go fabric shopping.

  14. I hope you bring the kitties home with you. I don't know what I would do without my boys. Having them already be friends helps with the "getting to know you" stage of adding a cat. :)

  16. It's really funny. Since I lost my 17 year old kitty in October and said I wouldn't have anymore, it's just so hard to lose them. I have been seeing kitties everywhere. They are adorable and both my DH and myself are thinking kitty again. I bet you will love them. Connie204

  17. I'm so jealous! Black kitties are my favorite, but a have one very selfish 8 year old Maine Coon cat who wouldn't go for any competition or be willing to share his space.
