What's up in the quilt lab?

I finished this little quilt top.  It is 9.5 inches square.

In the mood for little squares, I am also working on 16-patch ornaments for an order from the museum shop in Doylestown.  Here they are in various stages.  Each will be sewn to a backing like a little pillow and stuffed.  A button will be added in the middle and tied with floss.
Are you a pinner?  I pin everything before I sew.  It helps me handle the little squares better.  As I approach each pin, I pull it out just before it comes under the needle.
Here's my little pile of pulled pins.  Say that 10 times fast.

Another project that is underway.  There you go Kathie, your favorite block--the nine-patch.

  2. Yes I am a pinner and a planner. Less disappointment that way. Lovely little 9 patches.

  3. Love the little quilts. Yes, I am a pinner, too, especially when matching seams.

  4. Love your little gems! I pin to match seams, but no pins if I am sewing with no seams to match. It depends on the fabric and if it slips around or stays in place as
    I sew.

  9. Love the newest quilt top--such a pretty blue. I don't use pins on smaller projects, but the stiletto is always in my hand! Mary

  10. Such tiny pieces, but so well assembled! I'm a sometimes pinner. I pin if I'm having to match seams, or am sewing a border, but it's my least favourite part of piecing :) -Joanne

  12. I pin on things that need to match up...and run over the pins as I go;) Most of the time I get them through without hitting them, but sometime's I hit them square on. Love your little quilts;)
