More quilts but not my cat

I started 4 courthouse steps blocks over the weekend.  First they were going to be 4 small quilts, then they were going to be one "large" quilt.  I finally finished last night with one small quilt and one runner.  I used antique fabrics which date to around 1880.  The small quilt with red and green outer borders is is 10 inches square and will make a nice candle mat.

The runner is 11" x 23".  I may use pink for the binding.  By the way, this is not my cat!  It is my neighbor's cat who sneaks in when I get home from work.  He visits everyone in the neighborhood and as you can see makes himself right at home.  I just sent him home for dinner.

  1. Those are lovely, I really enjoy all the colors you use in your quilts. Where do you find all of your antique fabrics?

  2. I enjoy seeing your small pieces. Like Marsha I'm curious. Where _do_ you find your antique fabrics? I like your neighbour's cat. Kind of nice to have a pet but be able to send it home too :) -Joanne

  4. You always come up with the cutest projects! I too am curious about the fabrics. Do you disassemble quilts that you find at estate sales, etc.? If so, that is quite a task of itself! Pretty kitty! ---"Love"

  5. The neighbourhood freeloader! He's a handsome chappy. Lovely blocks! I am always stunned at how vibrant the colours are in your vintage fabrics. What a stash you must have. I think it's wonderful that you use the scraps that might otherwise go to the bin. Ann :-)

  6. The blocks are great! But you dare put a candle on top of that precious antique fabric?

Growing up we had a neighborhood cat. He "belonged" to the neighbor (he was a stray until they "adopted" him), but he'd invite himself into the house of anyone he knew had a bowl of pet food, have a snack, maybe snuggle a little or hassle the household pet, then move on...

That cat looks like my daughter's cat. He looks right at home in your house.

  9. The fabrics are so vibrant in color. Certainly looks like antique Pennsylvania colors. You are fortunate to have access to these fabrics.
