Wasn't feeling well this year. Had hubby stop at the jewelry store for my charm this year. No quilt store visits since there's an event coming up on the 7th.Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05678830102345359034noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6832356776547408874.post-13867949773155318052012-11-24T22:04:05.496-05:002012-11-24T22:04:05.496-05:00Now that is my kind of shopping! When cream is churned, there is butter and buttermilk. For butter to stay fresher longer, the butter is rinsed in very cold water and then "worked" and rinsed until all the butter milk is out of the butter. I have my great grandmother's paddle and bowl (a large wooden one) and I still churn my own butter and work it the old fashioned way! What wonderful treasures you have found!

Have a great day!Donienehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08756224977419687996noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6832356776547408874.post-18091943214504006542012-11-24T12:31:03.810-05:002012-11-24T12:31:03.810-05:00This looks like the perfect kind of day to me.This looks like the perfect kind of day to me.Dianehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13450692679207964671noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6832356776547408874.post-14851854484230809782012-11-24T10:07:15.953-05:002012-11-24T10:07:15.953-05:00The paddles are for shaping the butter into shape...The paddles are for shaping the butter into shape. Check out a living history site. You might get a demo. He says she had one of those jars with the paddles to make butter but he does not remember her ever using it. Me, all I ever saw was someone mixing the color into the margarine.Laura in IAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16993058879730411225noreply@blogger.com
