Official Photos from McCall's Quilting

The official photos from McCall's...and a link to get directions for a larger scale block from their website.

Here is my own photo of the quilt, actually before it was quilted, but it gives you a straight-on view for a better perspective on the block design.

June 2010 McCall's Quilting

Look for one of my quilts in the upcoming edition of McCall's Quilting (May/June 2010).  Notice the words "tiny treasure from antique fabric" on the cover--that refers to my quilt (not pictured) :-)

Craft Show Results

Well, my first show of the year is in the history books.  The turn-out was on the low side due to an absolutely beautiful spring day (the first after a severe winter) however, I was pleased with my results.  Christine (aka Stitch Niche) visited the show and  it was really nice to meet her in person.

Here is a series of photos telling the story of my show adventure.

My car, loaded up and ready to roll.

How the booth space looked when I arrived.  Think school cafeteria, which is what it is.

Curtains are up, now that looks better already.

Starting to shape up.

All ready now.

9:00 pm...time for bed.

Look what I got!

Lori at HomeSpunPrims  recently updated her picturetrail with new items for sale.  I couldn't resist purchasing this primitive doll, Lydda.  She's on the left in this picture, sitting in a flat basket that hangs on the wall.  The workmanship is wonderful.

The other doll is also a primitive reproduction doll.  I think they need one more friend to make a trio.

A Little Spring Around the House

I took a half day of vacation from work today to get caught up on things at home.  It's nice to have some alone time  to get some chores done and maybe do a little seasonal decorating.

Time for a pretty spring quilt...

I call this a make-do quilt.  What do you do if your nine-patches don't come out right?  We would probably re-do them, but not this 19th century quilter.  Just add a little strip of fabric and it fits just fine.

I love that the quilt is not perfect and symmetrical.  It has so much personality.

Time for the bunnies to come out...

and time for the Easter eggs to come out, too.

Visit with Mercer Museum

ornaments

Drove to Doylestown, PA, yesterday to visit the gift shop at the Mercer Museum.  It was a successful visit; they placed an order for 18 ornaments (basically 3" quilt blocks, quilted and bound, with a string for hanging) and two "large" quilts.  One is a variable star with 9 stars in pastel colors with a neutral border (shown in an earlier post).  The other one of the designs I showed in my last post--the quilt with green setting squares and red border.  If that one sells at my show then I will make another one for the museum.  I have just enough of the red border fabric to make one more.

7/13 and I need an intervention

With two weeks left until my spring show, I have completed 7 of my 13 new quilts.  I am in good shape and not panicking--not yet anyway.

This is how the quilt lab looked after last weekend of cutting batting and backing, then recutting batting.  I think I need an intervention for my little "problem".

The smelly batting has been picked up by the UPS man and hopefully my refund will be forthcoming.  I am curious as to what the manufacturer will say regarding the source of the odor once they get the batting back.  The first word from them, via the distributor,  was that it couldn't be their fault, something must have spilled on the product during shipping.  Ummm, I don't think so...
