I had a great year with many of my quilts being published and my first ever calendar quilt. I would like to share some of my good fortune with you by giving away three 2011 American Patchwork & Quilting Calendars. Check out my quilt in October and fellow bloggers quilts--November for Kathie's quilt, and May for Kathleen's quilt. Reply to this post by midnight on January 1; I will draw three names on January 2. Good luck and Happy New Year.

Snowy Day
We had a nice little snowstorm overnight, part of the system that came up the east coast. We received about 8 inches, so didn't get hit as bad as further east in NJ and NYC. Our street is nicely plowed already; having a city worker as a neighbor get us really good snow-plow service!!! I am working on two quilts right now using reproduction fabrics. I was so accustomed to antique fabric, that I forgot what a pleasure it is to work with new fabric. The new cats are right at home.

More quilts on display for the holidays
Isn't my husband lucky to be surrounded by beautiful quilts when he sits at his desk in the corner of the living room? Kitty update: we went to visit them yesterday and decided we want to adopt them. Waiting for our references to be checked; hope to hear soon if we are "approved".

Thinking about adopting...
two cats. These two are best friends and we'll meet them Sunday at Kitty Cottage, a cat shelter nearby http://www.kittycottage.org/.
As far as quilting goes, I have been working on a little log cabin quilt. I had it all together and then decided it looked too much like a placemat, so I took it apart and am re-working it a bit. Below is the antique doll quilt that I working from and some of my fabric selections.
Two other projects involve making little quilts inspired by large antique quilts. I have decided to use reproduction fabrics since I just don' t have the antique fabrics, especially the madders, that I need to do justice to the designs. I pulled out a bin of repros that I had and then bought some more. I am afraid that I might be getting hooked, there are so many beautiful repros out there.

'Tis the season...
...for give aways. Over the Thanksgiving weekend I tackled the chore of cleaning up the quilt lab. It was actually fun because I unearthed some old quilt fragments that will serve as inspiration for some of next year's projects. I also unearthed 6 volumes of "Uncoverings." This is the yearly publication of AQSG (American Quilt Study Group) and contains the papers presented at the annual seminar. The papers are on various topics related to quilt history. I have enjoyed reading these over the years but I decided I just can't keep everything. I have six volumes that I would like to give away to 2 lucky winners. If you are interested, please leave a comment by next Monday night and I will draw two names to each receive three of the volumes.
